Volunteers Needed

At last week's meeting, we passes around volunteer lists for three upcomming events. We are grateful to those who signed up to help.

It does not matter if you have much experience or if you have trees to show. In fact, these are all good opportunities to sit with more experienced memebers and view thier trees (not to mention the free entrance).

If you can spare a few hours and would like to help, please let me know as soon as possible. As you can see below, we are greatly lacking in man power. Please consider voluntering for these events.

Sept. 11- Virginia GoGreen Festival at the Science Museum, 9 am-12:30pm

Sept 18- GBGH Garden Fair, Midlothian 10am to 1pm

Oct 2- Virginia State Fair 10am-2pm, 2 to 6 pm, 6 to 10 pm

Oct. 3 Virgina State Fair 10 am to 2pm, 6 to 9pm

Also, we need about 30 trees to display at the Sate Fair, so if you would like to contribute, please contact Dan Kalman as soon as possible. As explained at the meeting, in order to get the widest variety of high quality trees from as many different members as possible, Dan will be coordinating and collecting all of the trees in the days prior to the the Fair. This will also make transporting the trees easier, since everyone won't be expected to make that trip to drop off their trees early that Firday morning.

Exciting Guest Speaker in June!

Club Election Results

We had our annual election for club officers at our last meeting with the following results:

President: Tony Yankowsky

V. President: Dan Kalman

Treasurer: Jack Frye

Secretary: Thomas Sones

Librarian: Jan Griffith

Prospective board members are being solicited now, and will be voted on at the picnic or the June meeting.

RBS Board Agrees on New Meeting Location

Due to the possitive feedback, the RBS Board has decided to continue to meet at the new location, unless other wised announced. Our montly meetings, typically 7 p.m. of the 4th Monday of each month, will be held in the activity room of St. Mary's Woods,1257 Marywood Ln, Richmond, VA, 23229. Please check the individual event listingson the calendar for changes,updates and details.

RBS Welcomes new memebrs

Congratulations to the 10 New members who joined at our March 20 Beginner's Workshop. We welcome them and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Need help with plant? Just come early.

If you need help or advice with a plan or pot, please come early to meetings. Starting at about 6:30, members will be available to discuss plants. Fell free to bring yours.

BORROW A BOOK

Our club maintains a free lending library available to all club members. The lending selection includes many magazines, books, and some videos – all on bonsai.
This literature is available ONLY at our regularly scheduled meetings. See Jan Griffith at our next meeting.
